In the previous blog, I explained cirrhosis and fucoidan. I had also explained four main liver functions. However, here, I would like to reconfirm them. 1) The metabolism that stores nutrients such as glycogen, vitamin, minerals, and breaks them turning them into energy. 2) The detoxifying effects of harmful substances such as ammonia during metabolism and turns them into less toxic substances and excretes them through urine and bile. 3) The liver produces bile, and the secretion of bile makes it easy to break down proteins and to emulsify fat. 4) Synthesis of plasma protein, such as albumin and clotting factors. The liver is called as a Silence organ. The liver got its nickname because whenever any liver disease occurs, symptoms are displayed after the disease progress to some extent. Thus when the liver diseases found, the patient’s condition is already deteriorated, and it is often difficult to reverse the condition and get the liver back in its healthy state.
In this blog, I will discuss with hepatitis B and C, and fucoidan. Hepatitis B is caused by infection with the hepatitis B virus. This B virus transmitted through the blood, and it may also occur through special intercourse. Acute hepatitis B develops relatively slowly, and symptoms would be general dullness, decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, brown urine, and jaundice. In a few circumstances, hepatitis develops and causes death due to liver failure, which called fulminating. If it is not fulminant, hepatitis will peak after a few weeks and heal.
Also, hepatitis C is caused when there is an infection of the hepatitis C virus and transmitted via blood. In acute hepatitis C, similar to hepatitis B, symptoms associated with acute hepatitis are absorbed. Fulminant hepatitis is rare for hepatitis C. However, it becomes chronic hepatitis at a high rate of 70 % after infection. If the severity of hepatitis C is higher, it will increase the risk of developing liver cancer.
Now, I will explain how fucoidan help reduces the hepatitis B virus and C virus. According to Huifang Li et al., fucoidan inhibits hepatitis B virus replication by activating MEK-ERK pathway, in which MEK-ERK signal leads to the inhibition of HBV replication. Hence, a study shows that the serum hepatitis B virus DNA level significantly reduced after fucoidan attacked the virus using its own cells. Additionally, fucoidan suppresses hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and HBsAg secretion.
Fucoidan inhibits virus absorption to the cell surface by binding to the cell surface with subsequent prevention of cell infection. As for the hepatitis C virus and fucoidan, according to Naoki Mori et al., fucoidan dose-dependently inhibited the expression of HCV (hepatitis C virus) replication. With continuous use of fucoidan between eight to ten months as a treatment plan, the HCV RNA level began to lower significantly.
I believe fucoidan is a better solution than medication because there are no side effects.

Recent bloodwork shows that I have been exposed to hepetitis b. Will fucoidan extract help eliminate this exposure? How many mgs per day should I take?
Dear Kenneth
Thank you for showing your interest in fucoidan and read my blog.
According to research of Huifang Li et al., Fucoidan may help to lead to inhibition of Hepatitis B virus replication by activating MEK-ERK pathway (communicate a signal from on the cell to DNA on the nucleus of cell). I would like recommend taking 1700 mg of fucoidan a day. You’d better be divided by 4 times a day like each before meal (425 mg) and before the bed time (425 mg).
Five years ago I was admitted to the hospital with abdominal pain and fever, and was diagnosed with Hepatitis B. I was discharged after 2 weeks, I was on Hepsera for few months. But the mild pains still persist on the right side of my abdomen. Two years ago, I learnt about a successful Hepatitis B Virus treatment from Herbal Health Point (ww w. herbalhealthpoint. c om), I was on the treatment for over 7 months and tested negative to the virus after I completed the treatment. Its almost unbelievable how effective the treatment was alleviating the virus. I completed the treatment two years ago and still negative!
Dear Davis
We are so happy to hear your hepatitis B virus has been negative before damage your liver. It does not matter what you use, not just fucoidan to become B virus negative. The important is not pass it on to others. Congratulations.
